There are basically two types of events, ones that are put on over a short duration of time and ones that are put over the span of seasons or an entire year.
These events are the short duration ones, and are usually put on over the course of a weekend. Once they're done, they're done. The Calendar of Events page lists the regular events that have been planned by California clubs. Use the links to get more details on any of the events that have been approved by AVA. The other events are still in the planning stages, but you can mark your calendar and keep checking back. Events need to be approved at least 2 to 3 months prior to their dates, so you have plenty of time to do your planning.
Year Round and Seasonal events are those that you can do on your own. Each club has a page on this site (go to the Clubs page, choose a region, then choose a club). On this page is a listing of all of the club’s Year Round walks in the column on the right. Use the link in the right-hand column to find out all the details (such as driving directions and where the start box is) that you need to participate in the Year Round. Go to the start point, sign in, get the walk directions, and head out for adventure by yourself or with friends and family. Clubs also use these walks by organizing group walks that start at a specific time. Sometimes these group walks are called "Friendship Walks."
There are over 140 Year Round and Seasonal events that are in California. The list of events from the AVA website will give you the latest information on these walks and bike rides. You can narrow your search by state, type of event, and even by city.

The old Governor's Mansion on the
Sacramento Capitol year round walk. Ronald and Nancy Reagan refused to
live there when he was Governor because it was "a firetrap." There is also a
bike ride as well.
